Ancient World 4th Period

Monday:  The Phoenicians and Hittites

Wednesday:  Introduction to Primary Documents
  • Homework (due Thursday):  read the primary document excerpts on pages 13, 22, 30, and 32.  Be prepared for a quiz on these documents.

Friday:  Loose ends/test review

    • what were the major characteristics of 16th century Europe?  Is this a time and place where you would want to live?  Why or why not?
Thursday:  The 16th Century
  • Homework (due Friday):  read pages 437-439 (stop at "The Response to the Crisis") and write a response to the following:
    • was the 17th century a direct continuation of the 16th century in terms of problems or was it something new?  Explain.
Friday:  The 17th Century
  • Homework (due Monday):  read pages 439-444 (stop at "The Flourishing of European Culture") and write a response to the following:
    • How did Absolutism in France differ from Constitutional Monarchy in England during the 17th century?  Which system do you think is most effective and why?
