  • Homework (due Tuesday--5th period/Wednesday--6th period):  read pages 52-57 (stop at Puritanism and Witchcraft) and write a response to the following:  what were the major characteristics of Puritan society?  Do any of these characteristics remain in modern American society today?  Explain.

  • Homework (due Wednesday--5th period/Thursday--6th period):  read pages 57-63 (stop at "The Human and Environmental Impact of the Fur Trade) and write a response to the following:  what does the "witch craze" say about Puritan society in New England?  Do "witch hunts" still occur today?  Explain.

Ancient World History, 4th Period

 Tuesday:  Class Introduction
    • Homework, due Wednesday:  read pages 2-5 (The First Humans-The Neolithic Revolution) and write a response to the following:
      • What were the major characteristics of hunter-gatherer society (give at least 5)?  What lessons can we learn from hunter-gatherers today?
Wednesday:  Nomads
    • Homework, due Thursday:  read pages 5-8 and write a response to the following:
      • List the 7 characteristics of Civilization and discuss how each is still relevant today.  Which of the 7 do you consider to be the most important?  Which do you consider to be the least important?  Why?
Thursday:  Civilization
    • Homework, due Friday:  examine the image below.  How many of the 7 characteristics of civilization can you find depicted here?  Briefly list/describe them.

    • Homework, due Monday:  read pages 400-406 (stop at Africa in Transition) and write a response to the following:  what is your view of Columbus?  Is the world has whole better of or worse of as a result of the "Age of Exploration"


United States History, 5th and 6th Periods

    • Homework, 5th period--due Wednesday; 6th period--due Thursday:  review chapter 1, pages 5-34 and write a response to the following:  how are the major developments in North America, Africa, and Europe from 1450-1600 related to United States history?

    • Homework, due Friday:  read pages 37-43 and write a response to the following:  compare the Spanish experience with the French experience in North America during the 16th-17th centuries.  How did native peoples impact the European experience?

    • Homework, due Monday:  read pages 45-52 (stop at The Seeds of Social Revolt) and write a response to the following:  what are the major characteristics of English settlements in North America?  How were English methods similar/different from those of the French and Spanish?
